Tampa Bay Business Journal: Public transit use low in Tampa Bay

Most people living in the Tampa Bay market do not rely on public transportation, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Public transit dependency was highest in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater area, with 1.38 percent of the population using public transportation.

The amount of North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota residents using public transportation was only .85 percent and .52 percent of Lakeland-Winter Haven residents, according to On Numbers analysis.

Arcadia and Clewiston were the only two markets in Florida that had more than 10 percent of residents using public transportation.
