Motorists traveling along the highways and byways of Hernando County these days are likely to encounter various stages of road construction.
County Commissioner Dave Russell said many of the improvements to area roads are due to the county's "excellent relationship with the Florida Department of Transportation for literally decades."
That relationship has enabled Hernando County to attain crucial state dollars for many of the improvements, he said.
A major example, he said, is the widening of County Line Road from U.S. 19 to Cobblestone Road, which has been completed.
Future plans had called for the widening to continue from Cobblestone all the way to the Suncoast Parkway.
But don't look for that happening anytime soon.
Russell said the pot of state money for County Line Road has "pretty much run out for now."
