From The Streets: SWFBUD Director Alan Snel

Our latest installment in our From The Streets series is a conversation with SWFBUD Director Alan Snel. SWFBUD is the South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers. SWFBUD is an alliance of 12 bicycle stores and four law firms that advocate for bicycling in the Tampa Bay region.

As a part of that advocacy, SWFBUD organizes the annual Bicycle Bash, where we spoke with Alan. The fifth Bicycle Bash was held November 6 at Flatwoods Park. During our conversation with Alan, we discussed bicycle safety, the economic development created by bicycling, and SWFBUD’s support for the Bicycle Area Mobility network.

Tampa Bay On Track greatly appreciates the chance to speak with Alan, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and St. Petersburg Council Member Leslie Curran at the Bicycle Bash.

From The Streets is a series written by members of the community that looks at transportation in the Tampa Bay area. Alan Snel is the director of the South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers. SWFBUD was created in 2006 to lobby local governments for more resources for bicycles, as well as to promote the community benefits bicycles create. Previous From The Streets posts include Complete Streets policies and transportation’s impact on the economy.
