From The Streets: St. Petersburg City Council Member Leslie Curran

Our latest installment in the From The Streets series is a conversation with St. Petersburg City Council Member Leslie Curran. Council Member Curran was attending the 2011 SWFBUD Bicycle Bash, to accept a SWFBUDDY Award for her work on behalf of bicycling in the Tampa Bay area.
Council Member Curran was involved in a serious bicycling accident last year, which has strengthened her advocacy for safe bicycling, including wearing a helmet as much as possible. Despite her accident, Council Member Curran still rides. We start our conversation by asking her about the benefits of bicycling.
Tampa Bay On Track greatly appreciates the chance to speak with Council Member Curran. Earlier this week, we posted our conversation with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. Look an interview next week with SWFBUD Director Alan Snel on Tampa Bay On Track.
From The Streets is a series written by members of the community that looks at transportation in the Tampa Bay area. Leslie Curran serves as the City Council Member for St. Petersburg’s District 4. She was elected in 2005 and reelected in 2009. Council Member Curran also served District 8 between 1989 and 1997. Previous From The Streets posts include Complete Streets policies and transportation’s impact on the economy.
